A new ALN Code of Practice will be in place in September 2021. What will this mean to you?

The whole team at Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Abercynon commit to provide a welcoming and stimulating environment to support and develop the learning of all children. Our school is staffed by a team of qualified teachers and teaching assistance. Each and every one provides a broad and balanced curriculum that allows children to develop, learn and grow. The children's wellbeing and learning are the centre of everything that we do here at YGG Abercynon.

Mae pob ysgol yng Nghymru yn y broses o symud oddi wrth deddf Anghenion Dysgu Arbennig i’r Ddeddf Anghenion dysgu Ychwanegol ers Medi 2021. Mae gwybodaeth pellach ar y wefan yma. The ALN Reform Bill  

All schools in Wales are in the process of moving from the Special Education Needs act to the new Additional Learning Needs Educational Tribunal Act as of September 2021. Y Newidiadau

Rydym yn y broses o addasu ein Côd Ymarfer er mwyn cwrdd a gofynion y ddeddf Anghenion Dysgu Ychwanegol newydd.

Yn YGG Abercynon, rydym yn dilyn y ddeddf, a fydd yn ei lle yn llawn dros gyfnod o tair mlynedd. Bwriad y newid yw i sicrhau pob tegwch i ddisgybl sydd ag ADY, a rhoi’r dysgwr yng nganol pob peth sy’n digwydd. Y CADY fydd a chyfrifoldeb o arwain unrhyw newidadau, gan gynnwys datblygu Cynllun Datblygu Unigol. Mi fydd y Cynllun Datblygu Unigol yn bodoli yn lle Datganiadau Anghenion Arbennig ac hefyd ambell Cynllun Addysg Unigol. Rydym wedi adolygu y gofrestr Anghenion Dysgu Ychwanegol yn ogystal a’r meini prawf ar gyfer disgyblion fydd yn derbyn Cynllun Addysg Unigol. Mi fydd pob disgybl arall yn derbyn Darpariaeth Cyson.

The Changes

We are currently adapting our practice to meet the requirements of the new legislative around Additional Learning Needs Provision.  

At YGG Abercynon we are following the Act, which will be fully implemented over a three year period. The objectives of the changes is to allow a fair system for all leaners with ALN, putting the learner at the heart of everything that happens. 

The ALNCo will be responsible for carrying out the required changes, including the induction of Individual Development Plans. An Individual Development Plan will replace the existing Statements of Special Educational Needs and some Individual Education Plans. We have  revised our Additional Learning Needs register and the criteria of the children that will receive an Individual Development Plan. All other children will receive Universal Provision that YGG Abercynon can provide.

All areas of school life are inclusive and tailored to the children. Staff members provide challenges, support and encouragement to all pupils. Our class teachers continually monitor the individual progress of all children in their class to ensure that the teaching and learning provided caters for the needs of all. We work in a pupil-centred environment which involve children, families, and school. We identify where there may be a need for targeted universal provision to support the progress of these pupils.

Mae gan ddisgybl Anghenion Dysgu Ychwanegol os oes ganddo / ganddi:

• Anhawsterau dysgu sy’n sylweddol fwy na mwyafrif y disgyblion o’r un oed
• Anabledd sy’n rhwystro neu atal rhag gwneud defnydd o’r adnoddau addysgiadol a gaiff eu darparu i ddisgyblion o’r un oed

At YGG Abercynon, we have a duty to provide appropriate and effective ALN provision to children that need it. 

Children have an Additional Learning Need if they;

• Have a significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of children of the same age 
• Have a disability which prevents or hinders them from making use of educational facilities of a kind generally provided for the children of the same age
